All of us are eager to fulfill our wishes and desires and do something better with our lives. All need something more satisfying, supportive and convincing to feel happier, fulfilled and better. These have been the common traits among all human beings at all times, past and present.
The need and the energy of wanting can be very great force that can make things happen. Although, people do lot of things for fulfilling their desires they are all the time desirous for more and more things. We are often told by people or culture that we should achieve this and that and then we will be happy. We are told and taught we should have a good job, house, clothes and car to live the ‘desired’ life.
But we have seen people who have resorted to harmful things such as alcohol, drug, sex, money and power games etc in order to find happiness, something which they have already supposed to have got. So is this not happiness? It is not, it seems. This is because they want more and they are in competition with others for a higher status which is a continuing ‘battle’ and leads us nowhere.
Finally, they find themselves unsatisfied and unfulfilled because the supposed goals do not bring happiness and success because true happiness comes only or exclusively from within a person. So, the pursuit of ‘everything’ is totally an internal phenomenon but illusion makes it seem external to us and we are caught in the unending loop or circle of getting more and more all the time.
